Job Title: Executive Director, Full-time Reports to: Emerge New Mexico Board of Directors Location: Remote, must be based in New Mexico Hours per week: Average 40 hours/week Salary Range $90,000 – $100,000 based on experience

Emerge New Mexico seeks a highly motivated and dynamic individual to serve as Executive Director. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to planning and execution of our candidate training program, fundraising and development, financial management, database management, supervising contractors, vendors, committees, and volunteers, communications, program promotion and implementation, class recruitment and support, board management, and acting as a resource for program members and alumnae.

BACKGROUND

Emerge New Mexico is a 527 non-profit organization that recruits and trains Democratic women to run for public office and win. Our mission is to identify, educate, and inspire Democratic women and non-binary individuals from all backgrounds to pursue elective office at the local, state, and national levels. Emerge New Mexico was founded in 2006 and is affiliated with Emerge America. There are currently state-based Emerge programs in 24 other states. RESPONSIBILITIES

The Executive Director organizes and runs the Emerge New Mexico training program and is responsible for building and maintaining the organizational infrastructure. Their primary responsibilities will include overall administration and execution of our candidate training program, fundraising and development, financial management, database management, supervising contractors, vendors, committees, and volunteers, communications, program promotion and implementation, class recruitment and support, board management, and acting as a resource for program members and alumnae.

Program and Communications

● Recruit, train, and inspire Democratic women to run for office

● Plan and execute our flagship six-month candidate training program, including managing all training logistics, including scheduling of training, securing venues, and securing and preparing trainers

● Plan and execute a weekend-long candidate boot camp once a year, if necessary

● Support and engage Emerge New Mexico alumnae to further our mission with help from committee members

● Serve as spokesperson for the organization ● Manage all external communication for the organization

● Develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders and partner organizations

Administration

● Manage day-to-day operations for the organization – database

● Supervise and direct contractors, committees, vendors, and volunteers

● With the Emerge NM’s bookkeeper and finance consultant, administer and maintain the organization’s finances, corporate records, tax compliance, and present financial status at each Board meeting

Fundraising and Marketing

● Oversee fundraising efforts, including working with development committee members and Board members to cultivate, recruit, and maintain relations with donors and obtain direct donor solicitations

● Manage and oversee paid vendor contracts to plan and execute annual fundraising event Women, Wine and Chocolate Gala

● Manage and oversee paid vendor contracts and or committees to maintain marketing campaigns for fundraising and donor-development initiatives and to market the successes of Emerge graduates

● Administer and maintain the organization’s database

Board and Organizational Development

● Build and manage relationships with the Board of Directors

● Oversee all Board governance, including scheduling and preparing for board meetings, participating in Board recruitment, development, and training

● Plan and execute one Board Retreat once a year

● Ensure that Emerge New Mexico is actively participating with our national affiliate, Emerge America

QUALIFICATIONS

● Demonstrated commitment to Emerge’s values of equity and justice, belonging, empowerment, transformation, excellence, embracing the network, taking chances, communicating and collaborating

● Passion for and knowledge of women’s political leadership issues

● Familiarity with New Mexico’s political system, including but not limited to knowledge of state and national political landscape; and the complex relationship among candidates, political organizations, and elected officials

● Experience with public speaking and excellent written and oral communication

● Demonstrated fundraising skills

● Exceptional organizational skills including the ability to multitask, and meet competing deadlines

● Experience in Board management including strong communication skills ● Non-profit management experience in some of the following functions: staff, budgets, administrative functions, program development, and fundraising

● Experience working within and managing small to medium-sized budgets

● Ability to work independently and self-motivate

● Ability to speak to and demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

● Ability to develop trusted and effective working relationships with diverse and multicultural constituencies, including boards of directors, staff, donors, volunteers, and a diverse array of supporters and stakeholders

● Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with a high degree of tact and discretion

● Ability to travel as needed; limited in-state travel required. Travel within New Mexico will be required 15% of the time.

Experience Campaign finance and or campaign management experience preferred Experience as a non-profit executive preferred

JOB SCHEDULE AND LOCATION

This is a full-time position with a flexible, deadline-driven schedule. This is a New Mexico-based fully remote position. Travel within the state is required, with the potential for out-of-state travel once a year. The applicant will be required to attend events and engage with sponsors and graduates in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Las Cruces – as well as other locations throughout New Mexico. Applicant will require a current driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle. Travel within New Mexico will be required 15% of the time.

This job description and position dictate that sitting, standing, driving, and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs will be necessary.

SALARY AND BENEFITS

This is a full-time position, and the salary range is $90,000 – $100,000 plus benefits. Benefits include healthcare insurance, three weeks of paid time off, and recognized federal holidays.
